The rich and connected get special treatment in Texas

Don't doubt that for a moment.
A former Corpus Christi law firm operator convicted of impersonating a lawyer has been granted a review by the state's highest criminal appeals court.

Mauricio Celis was convicted in February 2009 of 14 counts of falsely holding himself out as a lawyer. He appealed the conviction on 18 points but was denied by the 13th Court of Appeals.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has agreed to review the case on three points, according to an email from Celis' attorney, David Botsford of Austin.
Wrongly convicted people on death row don't get this kind of consideration.
