Sumrall found alive

The family of Robert Sumrall on Friday thought the worst -- that the missing El Paso hiker would not be found alive.

But seven days after Sumrall disappeared in the rugged and frigid Gila Wilderness, he was found weak and with his trusty dog, Zulu, by his side.

Sumrall, 67, was flown to University Medical Center of El Paso, where family members gathered to keep vigil.

He was listed in critical condition, and family members said he was unconscious.

Sumrall is the husband of former El Pas City Representative Jan Sumrall.
