Robstown sand pit cleanup to stop
Not because it's done. Only because it's worse.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality isn't wild about shutting down its cleanup operations near Robstown at an old sand and gravel pit contaminated with thousands of tons of hazardous waste, agency representatives said Wednesday.
But once the environmental agency started digging at the Ballard Pits, it found the problems were worse and more costly than the $4 million originally anticipated.
