Nobody's giving up in fight over that d*mn fence!
Even the Bushies know that the fence is just a symbol. A symbol of racism and fear. The cost of that symbol goes far beyond the symbolic damage. There will be environmental, personal, political and business costs as well. Republicans don't care.
Two congressional subcommittees will hold a joint field hearing in Brownsville later this month to look at the potential impact a border wall will have on border communities and the natural environment. It's about time.
People are still fighting.
Dr. Tamez said that she would continue to fight the construction of a border wall on her property in El Calaboz, outside of Brownsville. She is currently researching her next move with her lawyer Peter Schey. “This is not going to stop here,” she vowed after the Judge’s decision.Texas Border Coalition will have more to say.
Tamez is one of the last of the Spanish land grant heirs along the Texas-Mexico border. Homeland Security would like the build the wall on land that was granted to her ancestors by the King of Spain in the 18th century. The wall would divide and destroy the three acres she inherited and planned to pass on to her children and grandchildren.
“Where are the constitutional rights that protect me?,” she said. “I don’t feel the government has followed our Constitution.”
Tuesday afternoon, at the McAllen Convention Center, the TBC executive committee will meet in executive session to decide whether to take legal action against the federal government’s plan to construct border fencing in Texas. They will also meet with David Pagan, liaison to state and local governments at Customs and Border Protection. The waiving of laws may end up in the Supreme Court. Can Congress give up its power to Bush?
The Republicans with their 'PR for power' form of government have gotten us to the point where obviously useless and stupid passes for solutions.
