Pharmacy school funding
Jim Pitts (R- Waxahachie) chairman of the state House Appropriations Committee said the agreement to place the school under the Texas A&M health science center frees up about $5 million in funding that was not available for the school as a stand-alone program.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure sounds reasonable to me. Get a pharmacy school built and leave it empty because of a little oversight. Of course, there were no personal power plays at the expense of the people of south Texas. Lying sack of Republican! See previous posts - here and here.
Wasn't Pitts the guy who didn't go to the redistricting hearing at Brownsville? Because there was no quorum after Rep, Kino Flores (D-Mission) left, that meeting turned into a lovely farce for them. Seems Pitts has a history of disrespecting south Texas.
Update: See what Dos Centavos has to say on this subject.
Update 2: The Texas A&M deal is official. More from Valley Politics.
Update 3: Blah blah from the Caller Times. Note, you have scroll down a bit before they plug Vilma Luna's name into the article. I think that the editors have a spurious Vilma Luna quota. Of course, they don't say Vilma was a Craddick tool and that Craddick blocked the funding.
The Caller Times has a 'Vilma Luna free' article here on the pharmacists shortage.
